Celebrating 15 Years in Public Service: Cr Steven Huang
A gala dinner was recently held to celebrate Councillor Steven Huang's 15th anniversary in public service, drawing a warm turnout of community members. Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner joined as a special guest to celebrate the milestone.

As a highlight of the evening, renowned calligrapher (owner of Yukun Furniture) Zhu Yukun was invited to create a striking piece of traditional Chinese calligraphy live on stage. The finished scroll, rich in poetic imagery celebrating Brisbane's clear waters and vibrant community spirit, was presented as a gift to both Councillor Huang and Lord Mayor Schrinner — a gesture of gratitude for their continued support of multicultural engagement.

Over the past fifteen years, Cr Huang has remained a steady advocate for the local Chinese community, helping bridge cultural understanding between community groups and mainstream civic life. The evening was both a tribute to his years of service and a celebration of the strong bonds within Brisbane's civic and cultural life.
Moments like this reflect our ongoing commitment to promoting traditional Chinese culture within the overseas community. Through art forms such as calligraphy, we continue to build cultural bridges that connect heritage with everyday life abroad, helping the next generation and the wider community alike appreciate the depth and beauty of Chinese tradition.
